Recent history of the Brink

After the Pillage, the people living in the area have not been content with the way the Barothy family
has been handling things. They have been recruiting more heavily to better protect the region (and to be
better equipped than the Order whom they consider a threat to their claims). In the meantime, they have
been upping the taxes, and using their military might to enforce them. Some think this is a necessary
change (just look at what happened during the Pillage), but others have di erent opinions.

In either case, there is another major concern some people have about the Barothies, and in particular
Lord Nikola: there are rumors that he uses his power to get women he likes into his bed. Despite several tesimonies, most dismiss this as a simple fabrication devised by those who want to remove the Barothies from power.

Harrow

Roughly 15 years ago the tensions between the Barothies and the resistance sparked into open conflict. This was a result of some tragic event that took place in the village of Rovinca to the north of Krumilov. Reliable accounts of what happened there are hard to come by though, as of the few people who were actually there tell different versions of the events.

What is known for sure is that a contingent of Barothy soldiers were dispatched to the village as a response to a plea for help. Apprently terrible scremes were heard from inside the church after some villagers entered for their morning prayers. The cleric and founder of the settlement was nowhere to be found and the locals barred the front door of the temple and sent for help at the advice of the local witch Dorota (who together with the cleric were the leaders of the community).

Upon their arrival, a squad of Barothy soldiers entered the temple, along with an adventurer called Dalek, who bolstered their ranks having some experience with monster-hunting. Again, screams were heard from inside, and a few survivals caked in blood emerged from within, claiming that the villagers have set a trap for them inside.

As a result all hell broke loose, and the soldiers outside started putting the locals to the sword - or perhaps it was indeed the local resistance who started the killing. Regardless, most in the village perished that day, and the village became a ghost-town that locals now call Harrow. No one has dared to enter the cursed village since.

The resistance

Since then the conflict has been dragging out without either side gaining the upper hand. The
resistance does not have enough power to challenge the military might of the Barothies, while the nobles are unable to locate the main camp and the leaders of the resistance.

The only noteworthy event was the replacement of the old Governor of Krumilov by Governor Dvor,
after the untimely and mysterious demise of his predecessor.
